*happy sigh* I adore this series. I probably should have read this one before I read Sacrificial Magic, but I actually didn't realize it existed until yesterday.
It was wonderful to see Chess, well, happy. She's still waiting for the other shoe to fall in her relationship with Terrible, but at this point in the story she's still just silencing her fears with a Cept or two here and there rather than really letting her anxiety get to her.
With an interesting case to investigate (one with a surprising yet fitting ending), and a delightful amount of Terrible goodness, this was a very solid 4.5/5 Stars.
